Tochni, Cyprus
Teaching English - Motivating Learners and Preparing for CLIL

The context in which the courses are held, Tochni, Cyprus, which lies on Cyprus’ southern coast, not only allows us to learn much about the history, culture and economy of this fascinating area on the southernmost border of the European continent. It also allows us to come into direct contact with some of the political and social challenges of a region that has been hit hard by the financial/ economic crisis experienced by Cyprus during the last few years. Near to Tochni lies Nicosia, Europe’s only divided city, a wound that still hurts Cypriots today. Being there and talking to Cypriots  will give us a sense of the atmosphere which prevails in this unresolved situation.

What Other teachers Are Saying

I would highly recommend this course to other teachers because - besides the well-chosen social activities-, the course contained a rich variety of methods, games, raps, songs and chants, which can immediately be used in the primary and secondary classroom. It was a great experience.
